The Befriending Your Body Program (BFYB) ™ ® is a unique 8-week program of embodiment and self-compassion skills training for disordered eating and making peace with your body! The first of its kind, based on the evidenced-based practices of interoceptive awareness, self-compassion, and mindfulness. It offers you a new view on recovery while healing your relationship with your body and food through building the skills of self-compassion and embodiment.

What is BFYB?

The program is based on Ann Saffi Biasetti’s book, Befriending Your Body: A Self-Compassionate Approach to Freeing Yourself From Disordered Eating. Each week you will engage in a lecture on the primary principles of each phase of recovery along with guided practices and self-reflections to build the necessary skills in each phase to move you forward in your self-discovery, and your relationship with your body and food.

We’re Tabitha and Karina, both Certified Teachers of the program who are grateful to have trained alongside Ann. We’ve completed the 8 week program ourselves and have witnessed just how powerful the connection with our bodies can be. We can’t wait to guide you through your journey of embodiment!

What you’ll get

  • You will develop a new respectful and trusting relationship with your body, food and self for integrated and lasting healing and freedom.

  • You will learn how the internal workings of your body and nervous system can actually help you to regulate the tough emotions that block recovery and keep you stuck such as anxiety and fear.

  • You will also learn how self-compassion soothes the toughest moments and keeps you moving forward.

  • You will understand and learn the necessary skills of embodiment and self-compassion for emotional regulation and self-discovery.

  • The program will meet consecutively for 8 weeks, each weekly session lasting for 2 hours.

  • Currently the program is offered virtually due to clients feeling more secure within their own space and allowing clients from all places to have access.

  • 8 week sessions are limited to no more than 10 participants. The same participants will remain once the sessions are initiated.

  • Befriending Your Body: A Self-Compassionate Approach to Freeing Yourself From Disordered Eating is the companion book to the program. Please purchase the book ahead of time and plan to read a chapter a week along with the program.

  • Different from a support group or therapy group, the BFYB Program is a psycho-educational program that will teach you a great deal about your brain, nervous system, and the inner communication of your body that has been lost along the way. Therefore, we are not interested in stories, rather we are interested in sharing the experience of the skills and practices that are learned in the moment.

  • Yes, it’s encouraged! The program can work alongside your sessions with other providers and can even potentially enhance your work with them. We’d also be happy to collaborate with them!
