Hello- I’m Elise, a licensed art therapist. In my free time, I am outside enjoying nature or curled up inside listening to a podcast with my 3 fur babies. I understand firsthand that therapy can be an overwhelming experience and everyone needs to go at their own pace. As a therapist, I pride myself on slowly developing a strong rapport with my clients; since this will lay the groundwork for our therapeutic journey together.
I have a deep attachment to art, over the years, art has helped to shape me into the person and therapist I am today. From early on I have used art as a form of self-expression and as I have grown older art continues to serve this therapeutic purpose. Art can open a window into one's feelings/emotions that words alone are not able to capture. If you are like me and have a passion for art and even if you just like to doodle in your free time; I encourage you to try art therapy to see if it might be the right therapeutic fit for you.
I have over seven years of experience working with a wide range of age groups and populations, my primary clientele is young adults. My experience includes working with those with a history of trauma, and clients experiencing anxiety/depression, grief, and self-harm. I hold a Master’s degree in art therapy, with an emphasis in counseling, from Mount Mary University. Although art therapy is my specialization, I am also well-versed in several different therapeutic approaches; such as person-centered, holistic therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy. Clients are encouraged to build upon the skills they obtain in therapy to help meet their targeted goals. While I am well versed in a large range of art mediums, my specialties include oil pastel, charcoal, paint, and clay. Together we will hone in on the best therapeutic approach to target and meet your specific needs.
